BOPSLOTH STEMS

BIRD FEEDER 120bpm F#m

(click me) BIRD FEEDER STEMS (120bpm F#m) Remix these stems!

Feel free to resample anything for your own use, but if you use the stems to make a track that resembles the original closely and you would like to release it somewhere, I ask that you contact me so we can discuss splits if necessary, and any shared online promotional posts or content

I removed all the side chaining so you can have total control of the outcome. To make these stems sound identical to my finished track:

- GROUP everything together (or run everything to a single FXbus)
^I call this the Internal Master - It serves as a way to do a minimal amount of compression and limiting before the stems hit the master channel. This is so the track is hitting -0.03dB at its most aggressive before it reaches the actual Mastering chain where I push the volume using basically the same method but with more aggressive settings.

- On the Internal Master GROUP or FXbus, apply a compressor with a light/moderate threshold, quick attack, quick release to tame peaks of transients

- Then apply a limiter with a (-0.30)dB ceiling

- On the actual Master channel run another compressor, just taming peaks, light threshold, maybe a slightly slower attack and still a quick release

- Next add a utility plugin to raise the volume by 9dB (if using Ableton, I suggest also setting the bass to mono below 120Hz using this utility plugin).

- Finally, use a limiter with the ceiling set to (-0.30)dB

My suggested sidechain compression is to:

side chain everything except for the drums to the kick and the snare (adjust ratios to taste, and for the snare side chain, instead of using a compressor, use a gate, if possible).

- Sidechain the Tops to the snare

- Sidechain the percs to the kick and the snare.

- Occasionally I do things like side chain the top end of the bass and the synths to the guitar, or sidechain the guitar to the hi hats, or anything really to create pumping patterns on the backbeats of already existing rhythms or just to highlight one element over another for a period of time.

Feel free to do your mastering and sidechaining completely differently, this is just how it was done in my session and my habits mostly come from mixing and mastering for live performance and there's always more than one way to mix a track!
